Empowering Women, Transforming Lives
Success story of
Mrs. Shaguna Lohar
W/o :Ratan Lohar,
Village :Bansada, Bhinder, Udaipur, (Rajasthan)
Shaguna On the fateful day of August 17, 2023, in the quiet village of Bansada, within the Bhinder block of Udaipur district, a distress call echoed through the air—a call that would set the wheels of justice into motion. The voice on the other end belonged to a victim, Shaguna
Lohar, whose life had taken a tumultuous turn.
Shaguna’s father, filled with concern for his daughter’s safety and well-being, reached out to the Shaktidayini Kendra—a lifeline for those in need. Accompanied by her parents, Shaguna arrived at the center, seeking refuge and aid. Her harrowing tale unfolded—a story of a marriage that had transpired a decade ago with Ratan Singh, a resident of Kapasan. A marriage that had left her abandoned, cast aside, and living in constant fear.
Shaguna’s voice trembled as she revealed the grim reality of her existence. She had been summarily dismissed from her marital home, and the promises of love and companionship had turned into empty echoes. Ratan Singh’s absence was not just emotional; it was physical, leaving Shaguna in a state of perpetual vulnerability. To compound her ordeal, she had been subjected to menacing threats on her life.
In her hour of need, the legal counsellor at the Shaktidayini Kendra became a beacon of hope. With empathy in their heart and a firm grasp of the law, they extended a comforting hand to Shaguna. They not only informed her about her rights as a woman but also provided valuable legal advice, empowering her with knowledge and a sense of agency.
Shaguna revealed that she had previously filed a report at the local police station, but her cries for help had fallen on deaf ears. The wheels of justice had ground to a halt, and her pleas had gone unanswered. However, this time was different.
The legal counsellor, undeterred and resolute, took swift action. They reached out to the concerned police station in Kheroda, where the victim’s report had been languishing. Through their efforts and persistence, the report was finally registered, and the gears of the legal machinery began to turn. In the wake of this intervention, hope rekindled in Shaguna’s eyes. The sentiment within the Shaktidayini Kendra and the police station was one of determination—a collective resolve to ensure that justice was served swiftly and without delay. It was a reminder that no one should be left to suffer in silence, that the law exists to protect the vulnerable, and that timely intervention can make all the difference.
Shaguna’s case stands as a testament to the power of advocacy, empathy, and perseverance. It is a reminder that even in the face of adversity justice can prevail when compassionate individuals and dedicated institutions unite to uphold the rights and dignity of every individual.
